Kathmandu, March 31:

The government has recently implemented a significant increase in the renewal fees for public vehicles, resulting in higher costs for vehicle owners. This change was enacted through amendments and modifications to various laws within the Finance Bill of 2080. Previously set at five hundred rupees, the renewal fee has now been raised to three thousand rupees.

The revised fee structure outlines the specific amounts that different categories of vehicles are required to pay for renewal. For cars, jeeps, vans, and micro buses, the fee is determined based on the engine capacity. Vehicles with an engine capacity up to 1300 cc have a renewal fee of Rs 5,500, while those ranging from 1301 to 2000 cc have a fee of Rs 6,000. Similarly, vehicles falling within the range of 2001 to 2900 cc are subject to a fee of Rs 6,500, whereas those between 2901 to 4000 cc have an increased fee of Rs 8,000. Vehicles with an engine capacity of 4001 cc and above face the highest renewal fee of Rs 9,000. Comparatively, the previous fee structure stood at Rs 4,000, Rs 4,500, Rs 5,000, Rs 6,000, and Rs 7,000 for these respective categories.

Additionally, mini trucks, mini buses, and water tankers now have a renewed fee of Rs 8,000, previously set at Rs 6,000. The renewal fee for trucks and buses has experienced an increase from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,500, while auto rickshaws and taxis face an increased fee of Rs 2,500, up from Rs 2,000. Machinery equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, rollers, and cranes are subject to an annual renewal fee of Rs 15,500, as opposed to the previous amount of Rs 12,000.

These revisions in renewal fees aim to generate sufficient revenue for the maintenance and improvement of public infrastructure and services. Vehicle owners, including those with cars, jeeps, vans, micro buses, mini trucks, mini buses, water tankers, trucks, buses, auto rickshaws, taxis, and machinery equipment, should be aware of these changes and prepare accordingly to fulfill their renewal obligations based on the updated fee guidelines.
